The accident occurred around 1:00 am near Jhandewalan Temple and Hanuman Mandir Chowk when the bus reportedly lost control while taking a sharp turn and flipped onto its side. The vehicle was carrying around 25–30 passengers at the time of the incident.

According to police, two passengers died in the crash, while over 20 others sustained injuries, some of them seriously. Emergency services, including the Delhi Fire Services and police teams, rushed to the spot after receiving a distress call and began rescue operations. Several passengers trapped inside the overturned bus were pulled out and rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Authorities later identified the deceased as Shehbaj Alam (30) and Mahesh (21), both residents of Uttar Pradesh. Officials said the bus was travelling towards Fatehpuri in Delhi’s Sadar Bazar area when the accident took place.

Preliminary investigations suggest that overspeeding may have caused the accident. Some passengers reportedly told police that the driver had been asked to slow down shortly before the crash. The driver has been detained and a case has been registered as police continue to investigate the incident.

The accident caused temporary traffic disruption in the busy Karol Bagh area during the early morning hours. Authorities cleared the overturned vehicle later and restored traffic movement.

Police said further investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the accident and whether negligence or mechanical failure played a role.
