Jaipur, 19 November: In a strong action against noise pollution and illegal vehicle modifications, the Jaipur Police on Tuesday seized and destroyed over 150 modified bike silencers and pressure horns during a major enforcement drive in the Mansarovar area.
Led by DCP South Rajarshi Raj, the special operation targeted Royal Enfield and sports-bike riders who had installed loud, explosive-sound silencers that residents say created panic-like noise across the city, especially during late evenings.
Road Roller Used to Destroy Seized Silencers
The police lined up the seized silencers and pressure horns on the road and crushed them using a road roller, sending a clear warning to violators that the city will no longer tolerate illegal and terror-inducing vehicle noise.
Residents had reportedly filed dozens of complaints over the past few months about bikers revving engines and creating blast-like sounds in residential, market and school zones.
Police Statement
DCP Raj said the crackdown was essential not only for public convenience but also for road safety and prevention of accidents.
“This is not just about loud noise. These modified silencers cause sudden sound bursts that can distract drivers, frighten pedestrians, and lead to accidents. We will continue strict action,” he said.
He further added that action would not be limited to riders alone.
Workshops and mechanics installing or manufacturing such illegal devices will also face penalties.
Citizens Welcome the Move
Locals applauded the police for the long-awaited action, saying such noises had become a daily nuisance.
Parents, hospital staff and senior citizens in the area expressed relief, noting that these explosive bike sounds often disturbed sleep, scared children, and caused stress among patients.
More Action Expected
Officials confirmed that such drives will continue across Jaipur in the coming days, particularly in areas where complaints are high.
Police have urged citizens to report:
- Bikes with modified loud silencers
- Pressure horns
- Mechanics illegally installing such devices
Strict penalties and vehicle seizure will follow, authorities said.
