Couple Burnt Alive in Rajasthan’s Jaipur, Both Dead After Attack Allegedly by Woman’s Relatives

Jaipur, 3 Dec 2025: A horrifying incident unfolded in the Bandolav village of Dudu tehsil (near Jaipur), when a couple identified as 40-year-old Kailash Gurjar and 32-year-old Soni Gurjar were set on fire late Friday night, allegedly by relatives of the woman.

According to police, the assailants named as Birdi Chand and Ganesh Gurjar, relatives of Soni cornered the couple in a shed at the village farmland, doused them with petrol, and ignited them. Villagers rushed to save them after hearing their screams and extinguished the fire.

Both victims suffered severe burns and were rushed first to a local health centre, then referred to SMS Hospital in Jaipur. Kailash succumbed to his injuries on Monday night, while Soni who had been fighting for her life died late Tuesday, according to hospital sources.

The police have arrested the two main suspects within 12 hours of the incident. The case initially filed as attempted murder has now been upgraded to murder under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code. Additional suspects may still be identified as investigations continue.

Authorities believe the atrocity stems from a long-standing rivalry between the two families. A year ago, members from both families had entered into a love marriage, triggering persistent hostility. This tension is now being viewed as the underlying motive for the brutal attack on the couple.

Villagers expressed shock and outrage, calling the incident a clear violation of human decency. The deceased’s family has demanded that all those involved be brought to justice. The local police have appealed to the community for cooperation to help in the ongoing investigation.
