Jaipur, 4 Dec 2025: The Jaipur Police has launched a major crackdown on vehicles with illegal modifications particularly SUVs with tinted windows and modified two-wheelers seizing 141 vehicles over a span of three days.
The drive targeted black-film windows, power-bikes, modified silencers, and other alterations often linked to illicit activities. Among the seized vehicles were luxury SUVs (including so-called “black Mahindra Thar” and “black Mahindra Scorpio”), along with a significant number of modified two-wheelers.
According to police officials, the crackdown is part of a wider effort to restore order on Jaipur’s roads which, they say, have increasingly become venues for reckless driving, stunt riding, vehicle-based crimes, and public nuisance.
This operation follows a state-wide road-safety campaign that had already resulted in issuance of nearly 20,000 challans for traffic violations and cancellation of dozens of licences and registrations.
As part of the crackdown, the seized vehicles were taken to an impound yard, their tinted films or other unauthorised modifications removed, and challans issued to the owners. Police have warned that repeat offenders risk permanent confiscation of vehicles and possible criminal proceedings.
Officials say the campaign will continue. They also announced increased night-patrols, drone surveillance on weekends, and strict enforcement of traffic rules to curb stunt riding, noise pollution (from modified silencers), and unauthorised modifications that compromise public safety.
