Inter-State Auto-Luring Robbery Gang Busted in Jaipur, Three Arrested

Jaipur, 23 Dec 2025: Jaipur Crime Branch has successfully cracked down on an inter-state robbery gang that allegedly lured unsuspecting passengers into auto rickshaws and robbed them, police officials said on Tuesday.

According to the Crime Branch, the gang believed to be based out of Gujarat and operating across state borders used a deceptive method to target commuters and travelers in Jaipur. The accused reportedly enticed victims into auto rickshaws, offering rides to their destinations before overpowering them and fleeing with valuables such as cash, mobiles and other personal belongings.

In a coordinated raid, law enforcement teams apprehended three key members of the gang, including the alleged mastermind identified as Ravi Bhai and his associates Dilip and another accomplice, who were taken into custody without incident. Several stolen items and vehicles believed to have been used in the crimes were also seized during the operation.

Police said the gang targeted victims late at night or in relatively isolated locations, taking advantage of passengers’ trust and then committing the robberies while the auto was in motion. The investigation revealed that the gang had been operating in the region for several months and had multiple cases registered against them in Jaipur and neighbouring areas.

“The gang’s modus operandi involved approaching individuals waiting for transport, promising affordable rides, and then turning violent once the victims were inside the rickshaw,” a senior Crime Branch officer said. Formal charges including robbery and criminal conspiracy have been filed against the suspects, and further questioning is underway to determine if there are more accomplices at large.

This major bust comes amid intensified efforts by Jaipur police to clamp down on organised theft and robbery networks operating within the city and across state lines. Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant, especially when travelling alone or accepting transport offers from unfamiliar drivers, and to report suspicious activity to the nearest police station immediately.
