Jaipur, 25 Dec 2025: Citizens of Jaipur woke up to intensified winter chill and deteriorating air quality on Christmas Day as the city experiences a sharp drop in temperature accompanied by rising air pollution levels.
According to local weather reports, temperatures in Jaipur have fallen significantly, with early morning readings dipping to around 9–11°C and heavy mist and cold winds sweeping across the region. Residents have reported harsh cold conditions affecting daily life, with many people bundling up as the winter sets in more firmly.
The impact of winter weather has been compounded by a noticeable decline in air quality. Data from real-time air quality monitoring shows Jaipur’s Air Quality Index (AQI) in the “Unhealthy” category, with readings over 200 in several areas early Thursday morning. This level indicates poor air quality that may affect sensitive groups such as children, the elderly, and individuals with respiratory problems.
Fine particulate matter (PM2.5), a key pollutant linked to vehicle emissions, construction dust and other sources, remains elevated, prompting health advisories urging residents to limit prolonged outdoor activities and wear masks if venturing outside.
The cold conditions, combined with mist and limited wind movement, have resulted in pollutants lingering closer to the ground instead of dispersing, contributing to the worsening AQI situation.
Local authorities are closely monitoring the air quality and weather trends. Medical professionals have also advised caution for people with asthma, chronic bronchitis or heart conditions, recommending minimal outdoor exposure during peak pollution hours.
As Jaipur navigates the festive day under grey skies and frosty weather, the combined effects of cold temperatures and poor air quality are expected to continue for the next few days, affecting mobility and the comfort of residents.
