Thousands Flock to Jaipur Temples as New Year Celebrations Begin; Special Darshan and Traffic Measures in Place

Jaipur, January 2, 2026: Jaipur welcomed the New Year 2026 with a wave of devotion and elaborate preparations at major temples across the city, drawing thousands of devotees and visitors from within Rajasthan and across India. The city’s spiritual fervour was matched by careful traffic and crowd management plans implemented by local authorities to ensure smooth celebrations.

Devotees Gather at Govind Dev Ji Temple with Special Offerings

The revered Govind Dev Ji Temple, one of Jaipur’s most prominent religious sites located within the historic City Palace complex, witnessed a massive rush of devotees early on New Year’s Day. Thousands of visitors gathered to offer prayers and participate in special rituals marking the start of 2026.

According to local reports, the temple saw an especially vibrant atmosphere as priests offered 56 types of traditional laddoos (sweet offerings) to the deity, an expression of devotion drawing crowds and media attention.

The annual gathering at the Govind Dev Ji Temple underscores its significance in Jaipur’s cultural and religious life. Dedicated to Radha and Krishna, the temple is historically important and is a central pilgrimage destination for devotees celebrating major festivals and auspicious occasions alike.

Heavy Footfall at Other Temples and Spiritual Sites

In addition to Govind Dev Ji Temple, other sacred sites in Jaipur, including Moti Dungri Ganesh Temple, Khole Ke Hanuman Ji Temple, Radha Gopinath Temple and several others, saw increased footfall as families and devotees chose to begin their year with spiritual darshan and prayer.

At Moti Dungri, special arrangements were made to manage crowds and offer devotees an orderly darshan experience throughout the day. Organizers reported extended darshan hours and multiple entry and exit lines to help accommodate the large number of visitors.

Traffic Alert and Crowd Management Initiatives

With the surge in temple visitors and tourists flocking to Jaipur’s attractions, the Jaipur Traffic Police imposed special traffic restrictions and diversions on key roads leading to religious sites and heritage areas.

Traffic authorities restricted vehicle access in several zones, especially around the City Palace complex, Trimurti Circle, JLN Marg, and the Amer Fort corridor from early morning until evening, to prevent congestion and ensure public safety. One-way traffic routes were introduced near Badi Choupar and on the road towards Delhi Road, and strict enforcement of parking rules was applied.

A detailed traffic advisory also recommended dedicated parking zones and alternate routes for devotees heading towards Moti Dungri and Govind Dev Ji areas to manage the influx of vehicles. Public transport options were encouraged to ease crowding near temples.

Safety and Facilitation Efforts

Authorities also bolstered on-ground support, with additional police personnel and volunteers deployed across key locations to guide crowds and manage both vehicular and pedestrian movement. With city tourism already in full swing during the winter season, these measures aimed to balance festive cheer with security and convenience for residents and visitors alike.

As Jaipur’s New Year festivities continue into the weekend, temples and cultural sites are expected to remain at the heart of celebrations, reinforcing the city’s reputation as a vibrant destination for both spirituality and tourism.
