Jaipur/New Delhi, January 12, 2026: An Air India domestic flight en route from New Delhi to Vijayawada was diverted to Jaipur on Monday morning after an elderly passenger suffered a medical emergency mid-air, officials and sources said.
Flight AI2517, operated with an Airbus A320 aircraft, had taken off from the national capital early Monday when the passenger reportedly developed health complications during the journey.
As a precautionary measure, the flight crew informed air traffic control and diverted the aircraft to Jaipur International Airport. The flight landed safely in Jaipur at around 6:42 am, according to available flight tracking data and officials familiar with the matter.
Upon landing, the passenger was deboarded and immediately rushed to a nearby hospital by ambulance for urgent medical attention.
There was no immediate official statement issued by Air India regarding the incident, and details such as the number of passengers onboard were not immediately available.
The flight is expected to resume its journey to Vijayawada after addressing the situation on the ground, sources said.
