Weather & Rain Alert in Rajasthan: IMD Predicts Unstable Weather, Rainfall, and Fog Across Key Districts

Jaipur, January 22, 2026: Rajasthan is set for a significant weather shift as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued rain and yellow alerts for several districts including Jaipur, Bikaner, and Bharatpur amid ongoing cold and foggy conditions. A fresh western disturbance is influencing the state’s weather, bringing clouds and the likelihood of showers over the coming days.

According to the latest forecasts, rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is expected in parts of northwestern and eastern Rajasthan throughout 22–23 January, with possible continuation on 26 January. The IMD has issued yellow alerts for at least six districts for rain and thunderstorms, with some areas also facing a risk of hail.

The change in weather comes as dense fog has already blanketed parts of the state during early mornings, particularly in Bikaner, Hanumangarh, Churu, and Sri Ganganagar, reducing visibility and adding to chilly conditions.

Temperature Trends & Forecast

While daytime temperatures remain relatively mild, night-time lows have stayed in the lower range, with many regions recording minimum temperatures around or below 10°C. This includes major cities and surrounding areas, contributing to the persistence of cold conditions.

The IMD forecast suggests that cloud cover and chances of sporadic rain will persist this week, especially in and around Jaipur, Bikaner, and Bharatpur divisions, while foggy and cold spells continue to affect early mornings.

Public Advisory

The meteorological department has advised residents and commuters to stay alert for sudden rain, thunderstorms, and hail, especially in areas under the yellow alert. Motorists are also urged to drive cautiously due to reduced visibility from dense fog in the mornings.
