Air India Flight Aborts Landing at Jaipur Airport; Lands Safely After Go-Around Maneuver

Jaipur, January 28, 2026: An Air India flight from Delhi to Jaipur aborted its initial landing attempt at Jaipur International Airport on Wednesday afternoon but landed safely on its second approach after executing a standard go-around procedure, officials and aviation sources said.

The aircraft, operating as AI-1719, touched down on the runway at approximately 1:05 pm, but the pilot quickly sensed an unstable approach and opted to abort the landing, pulling the aircraft back into the air moments after its wheels contacted the runway. The plane remained airborne above Jaipur for around 10 minutes before making a successful second landing under normal conditions.

There were 135 passengers on board, and no injuries or damage were reported, according to airport authorities. All safety protocols were followed throughout the incident.

Among those on the flight was Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, senior Congress leader and Rajasthan in-charge of the All India Congress Committee. Several Congress leaders had gathered at the airport to receive him, and the initial aborted landing caused anxiety among them before relief came with the safe touchdown.

Aviation experts noted that pilots routinely perform go-around maneuvers when they judge that the landing approach may not be sufficiently stable, a key safety measure designed to prioritise passenger well-being.

This incident occurred on the same day that a separate plane crash in Baramati claimed the life of Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister and NCP leader, underscoring the critical importance of strict aviation safety procedures.
