Major Fake Milk Racket Busted in Tonk; 80,000 Litres of Adulterated Milk Supplied Daily to Jaipur, Ajmer

Jaipur, February 4, 2026: A large-scale fake milk manufacturing unit that allegedly produced around 80,000 litres of adulterated milk daily and supplied it to markets in Jaipur, Ajmer, and Tonk was raided and busted by police, officials said on Wednesday.

The District Special Team (DST) of Tonk Police, with support from the Diggi police station, carried out a raid on Tuesday night at an illegal milk factory located near Bagar Ki Dhani on Deshma Road in Diggi town. The operation uncovered a sophisticated adulteration network masquerading as a milk processing unit.

Seizure of Adulterated Milk and Chemicals

During the raid, the police seized:

  • 5,500 litres of adulterated milk ready for dispatch
  • Five pickup vehicles and one milk tanker
  • Large quantities of adulteration materials including 2,100 litres of soybean oil, 500 litres of Dalda ghee, 550 kg of milk powder, 2,500 kg of lactose, and 105 kg of caustic soda.

Authorities said the factory was manufacturing synthetic milk by mixing milk powder and lactose with water to give it a milk-like appearance. Caustic soda was reportedly used to increase shelf life, while vegetable ghee and oils were added to boost fat content, a dangerous mix that poses a serious public health risk.

Arrests and Investigation

Five men present at the factory during the raid were arrested. They have been identified as:

  • Kalu, 22 (Tonk)
  • Raju, 21 (Ajmer)
  • Mahipal, 22 (Ajmer)
  • Shivraj, 25 (Ajmer)
  • Omprakash, 45 (Ajmer)

Police said the operation was allegedly being run by another accused, Sonu Yadav, a resident of Bahrod, Haryana, who is currently absconding.

Tonk Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kumar Meena confirmed that a formal FIR has been registered and samples of the seized milk will be sent for laboratory analysis by the Food Safety Department as part of the ongoing investigation.

Public Health Concern

Officials have warned consumers in the affected districts not to consume milk of uncertain origin and urged strict vigilance by retailers and wholesalers. The case is expected to widen as police investigate the full supply chain and distribution network connected with the fake milk racket.
