Jaipur, February 11, 2026: Two young Japanese tourists visiting Jaipur have been reported missing, triggering a search operation by city police amid rising concerns for their safety.
The missing tourists have been identified as Yuma Toyoda (25) and Hibiki Shiba (25), both of whom arrived in India from Japan earlier this week. They landed in Delhi on February 6 and travelled onward to Jaipur, where they checked into a hotel in the Brahmapuri area on February 7.
According to Ashok Nagar police, the duo hired a taxi from their hotel on the evening of February 7 to visit a fast food restaurant in the Ashok Nagar locality. The taxi driver waited outside while the tourists went inside, but they never returned to the vehicle or their hotel. The driver waited through the night and into the next morning, but with no contact from the tourists, he eventually filed a missing person complaint on February 9.
Police said CCTV footage from the restaurant shows the tourists entering and then leaving on foot just minutes later, without consuming food or interacting with anyone nearby. Their luggage, including bags with personal documents and passport copies, was later found inside the taxi, raising serious concerns.
Efforts are underway to trace their movements since they were last seen, with officers reviewing surveillance footage from surrounding areas, checking hotel records, and attempting to establish contact with their families and the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). Their mobile phones have remained switched off since Saturday night, compounding the challenge for investigators.
Inspector Moti Lal Sharma of Ashok Nagar police confirmed that a missing persons report has been registered, and authorities are exploring multiple possibilities, including unplanned travel, accident, or other unforeseen circumstances, while continuing the search.
At the time of going missing, the pair were reportedly on a six-day tour of India, with plans to visit nearby tourist destinations such as Ranthambore and Agra before returning to Delhi.
