Jaipur, February 14, 2026: In a deeply disturbing incident that has shocked residents of Rajasthan’s capital, Jaipur Police arrested a 19-year-old man for allegedly murdering his eight-month-old daughter and attempting to take his own life earlier this week. The case is currently under investigation.
According to police reports, the incident occurred on February 6 inside the in-laws’ home in the Malpura Gate area. The accused, identified as Sadab, originally hails from Bahraich in Uttar Pradesh and had moved to Jaipur with his wife Ruksar Bano (19) and their infant daughter Sahnaz.
Police said that a dispute broke out between Sadab and his wife over returning to their native village. As the argument escalated, Sadab allegedly attacked his wife and her brother, prompting neighbours to intervene. Shortly afterward, the accused took the infant into a room and tragically ended her life.
After committing the act, Sadab also attempted suicide by hanging himself inside the room, but was later rescued by family members and rushed to the hospital along with the injured child. Despite efforts to save her, the infant succumbed to her injuries.
Police registered a case and detained Sadab on the night of his discharge from hospital. He is currently being interrogated for further details as authorities continue their investigation.
The horrific case has stunned the local community, drawing strong reactions on social media and calls for swift legal action. Police officials have reiterated that the matter is being thoroughly probed and more details will be revealed as the investigation progresses.
