Jaipur, March 13, 2026: A shocking incident in Rajasthan’s Jaipur district has left residents stunned after a man allegedly killed his wife and eight-year-old daughter with a sword before surrendering to police, officials said.
According to police, the accused, identified as Surjeet (also reported as Sukhjeet) carried out the attack at his home in Bichoon village of the Dudu area in Jaipur Rural during the early hours of Thursday. His wife, Saroj Devi (35), and their daughter Vanshika (8) died on the spot after the brutal assault.
Attack Took Place Late at Night
Investigators said the incident occurred around 1 am, when the family was at home. The accused allegedly attacked his wife with a sword and later strangled his daughter after she woke up during the incident.
Both victims succumbed to their injuries at the scene.
Accused Stayed Near the Bodies
In a disturbing development, police said the man remained near the bodies overnight after the killings. He was reportedly sitting near the victims until morning before eventually approaching the police.
Later, he walked into the Mokhampura police station and confessed to the crime, reportedly telling officers that he had killed his wife and daughter.
Possible Motive Under Investigation
Preliminary investigations suggest the family had been experiencing domestic disputes for the past few months, though the exact reason behind the killings is still being examined.
Police officials also indicated that financial stress and debt may have contributed to the crime. The accused reportedly worked in a private job and earned around ₹12,000 per month.
Police Probe Underway
After the incident, a forensic team reached the spot and collected evidence from the house. The bodies were sent to a nearby hospital for post-mortem examination, and further investigation is ongoing.
Police are currently questioning the accused to determine the exact sequence of events and the motive behind the double murder.

The gruesome incident has shocked residents of Bichoon village, where neighbours said the family had been facing personal and financial difficulties but did not expect such a tragic outcome.
