Rain, Dust Storm Likely in Parts of Rajasthan as Western Disturbance Becomes Active

Jaipur, March 16, 2026: Weather conditions across Rajasthan are expected to change over the coming days as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light rainfall, thunderstorms, and dust storms in several districts due to an active western disturbance affecting northwest India.

Jaipur Weather Alert

According to meteorological officials, areas including Jaipur, Ajmer, Bharatpur, and parts of the Shekhawati region may witness light rain along with dust storms and gusty winds. The weather system is likely to bring temporary relief from the rising temperatures that have recently been recorded across the state.

Several regions of Rajasthan have already experienced fluctuating weather patterns. Light showers and thunderstorms were reported in parts of the state over the past few days, while some areas also saw hail and strong winds late at night.

The IMD has indicated that wind speeds during thunderstorms could reach 30–50 kmph in some areas, particularly between March 18 and March 20. During this period, scattered rainfall accompanied by lightning and gusty winds is expected across divisions such as Jodhpur, Bikaner, Ajmer, Jaipur, and Bharatpur.

Meteorologists attribute the sudden weather shift to a western disturbance moving across northern India, which is expected to intensify from March 18 onward. This system may lead to thunderstorms, lightning, and localized rainfall in multiple districts across the state.

Despite the expected rainfall, temperatures in many cities remain above normal. Jaipur recently recorded maximum temperatures in the mid-30s Celsius range, reflecting the gradual transition toward summer conditions in Rajasthan.

Officials have advised residents and farmers to remain cautious, particularly in areas where strong winds or dust storms could affect visibility and crop harvesting activities. Weather experts also noted that such sudden changes in weather are common during March as seasonal systems shift across northern India.

The IMD will continue to monitor the system and provide updates as the weather pattern evolves across Rajasthan over the next few days.
