Jaipur, March 18: In a tragic road accident on the Jaipur–Sikar highway, a retired government teacher and his son lost their lives after a speeding SUV allegedly driving in the wrong direction rammed into their scooty in Rajasthan’s Jaipur district on Tuesday.

The deceased have been identified as Satyanarayan Saini (68), a retired teacher, and his son Vijendra Saini (45), residents of Chomu. Vijendra’s nine-year-old son, who was also riding on the scooty, sustained injuries but is reported to be in stable condition.
Accident Near Bhadala Cut
According to police officials, the accident took place around 2 PM near Bhadala Cut in the Govindgarh area. The victims were traveling from Chomu to Shrimadhopur in Sikar district to attend a family function when the incident occurred.
Eyewitnesses stated that the SUV, reportedly a Thar, was moving at high speed and allegedly coming from the wrong side when it collided head-on with the scooty. The impact was so severe that all three riders were thrown onto the road.
Rushed to Hospital, Two Declared Dead
Local residents immediately rushed to the spot and alerted emergency services. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital, where Satyanarayan and Vijendra were declared dead on arrival.
The child received first aid and was later handed over to family members. Authorities confirmed that he is out of danger.
Driver Absconding, Police Investigation On
Police have seized the SUV involved in the accident; however, the occupants fled the scene immediately after the crash and are currently absconding.
Officials have launched a search operation to identify and arrest those responsible. The bodies of the deceased have been kept in the mortuary for post-mortem, and further investigation is underway.
Rising Concern Over Road Safety
The incident once again highlights growing concerns over rash driving and wrong-side driving on highways in Rajasthan, which continue to claim lives despite ongoing road safety efforts.
