Jaipur, 23 November: In a brazen “filmy-style” robbery early Saturday morning, two masked assailants reportedly forced their way into a car belonging to a school director in the Brahmpuri area and fled the scene with both the vehicle and the director’s pet Chow Chow dog. Authorities say one of the suspects picked up a female accomplice during the flight.
The incident unfolded at around 8:15 a.m. outside a private school in Sitarampura when the victim’s driver had just placed the dog in the back seat and returned to the car. At that moment, one robber jumped into the passenger side while the second pulled the driver out at gun-point and drove off with both the director’s car and its dog.
CCTV footage captured the dramatic moments: the driver exiting, the assailants arriving, and the dog still in the car as the vehicle sped away. Police were alerted and quickly tracked the car via its GPS system, although the robbers allegedly tampered with the tracker during escape.
Meanwhile, the car was later abandoned near a forest stretch close to Shahpura as police tightened their net. While the two chief suspects remain on the run, police have arrested Navsirat Kaur, a 30-year-old woman from Punjab, believed to be linked to the gang. The dog has since been safely recovered and returned to the owner.
The DCP (North) Karan Sharma confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected. He noted that exit-points in the forest area are being monitored, and additional patrols have been deployed.
Residents of Brahmpuri and nearby colonies say the incident has rattled them. They worried aloud that such an audacious robbery at gun-point, in broad daylight, with a pet canine involved shows how bold the criminals have become.
Police urge all car owners especially those with GPS trackers to keep their devices active and report any suspicious loiterers or vehicles immediately. They also seek public help in identifying the remaining two suspects seen in the CCTV footage.
The arrest of the woman suspect marks the first breakthrough in this case. Authorities say they are analyzing more footage, combing through nearby villages and forest perimeters, and coordinating with district units to ensure the fugitives are caught.
