Jaipur, 19 Dec 2025: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has warned that Jaipur may not host Indian Premier League (IPL) matches for the upcoming season unless the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) holds long-overdue elections and restores a duly elected governing body.
The IPL chairman, Arun Singh Dhumal, speaking on the sidelines of the IPL auction in Abu Dhabi, made it clear that the prestigious T20 league cannot return to Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Stadium unless the state association’s administrative issues are resolved. “We had written to the state body last time that until and unless they conduct the RCA elections and get an elected body in place, it would be difficult for us to take the IPL to that venue,” he said.
Currently, the RCA has been run by an ad hoc committee appointed by the Rajasthan government, led by Deen Dayal Kumawat, for the past two years. The BCCI has made it clear that only an elected executive will make Jaipur eligible to stage IPL fixtures.
The seven-time IPL home of the Rajasthan Royals, Jaipur has hosted the franchise’s matches for nearly two decades. However, uncertainty over RCA’s governance has now put those games in jeopardy, with the Royals reportedly exploring alternate venues such as Pune to ensure their home fixtures go ahead without disruption.
The RCA has denied receiving formal communication from the BCCI and insists it is ready to host matches at SMS Stadium. RCA representatives say they are in discussions with the Royals and, if needed, will work with the state government to address the BCCI’s concerns.
The BCCI has emphasised the importance of administrative stability and fair governance at state associations for organising high-profile tournaments like the IPL. Unless the RCA conducts its elections soon, Jaipur fans might miss out on top-tier T20 action in the upcoming season.
