Jaipur, 30 Dec 2025: A severe cold wave continued to grip Rajasthan on Tuesday, with several parts of the state recording temperatures well below seasonal averages, making mornings and nights bitterly cold for residents. The chill persisted for the third consecutive day, highlighting the intensity of the winter spell sweeping across the region.
According to meteorological data, Fatehpur in Sikar district recorded one of the lowest minimum temperatures in the state at 3.5°C early Tuesday, while other towns also witnessed sub-normal night readings.
In Jaipur, the state capital, the mercury dipped to 9.3°C, and although clear skies helped the daytime temperature rise to around 25.1°C, residents continued to feel the cold during early mornings and late evenings.
Widespread Cold Across the State
Cold conditions were not limited to Fatehpur and Jaipur. Several districts recorded chilly night temperatures:
- Dausa: 4.5°C
- Alwar: 4.8°C
- Sikar: 5.0°C
- Vanasthali & Mount Abu: 5.1°C each
- Pilani: 6.0°C
- Churu: 6.3°C
- Anta: 6.7°C
- Lunkaransar: 7.2°C
- Sri Ganganagar: 8.9°C
In contrast, some western parts of the state experienced relatively warmer nights, with Jaisalmer recording 10.4°C, Jodhpur 11.5°C, and Barmer 12.6°C.
Dry Weather, Fog and Forecast Outlook
The Rajasthan Meteorological Department noted dry weather prevailing across most regions, but dense night-to-morning fog continued to blanket some areas, reducing visibility and adding to the winter chill felt by commuters.
The prolonged cold spell has been attributed to active north-westerly winds combined with a lack of western disturbances weather systems that normally bring cloud cover and occasional rainfall to the region.
Forecasters predict slightly warmer temperatures by Thursday, offering some respite from the ongoing cold wave. However, isolated weather activity locally referred to as Mavath could affect divisions including Jaipur, Bikaner, and Bharatpur later in the week.
Impact on Daily Life
The intense cold has made early morning travel difficult for many, particularly schoolchildren, elderly citizens, and those who work outdoors. While daytime sunshine brings moderate warmth, the sharp temperature drop after sunset has kept residents bundled up well into the evening.
Authorities have urged people to take precautions against cold-related ailments, especially during prolonged exposure in the early mornings and late nights.
