Eight Killed, Several Injured in Massive Fire at Illegal Fireworks Godown in Jaipur

Jaipur, June 10, 2026: At least eight people lost their lives and several others sustained serious burn injuries after a devastating fire and a series of explosions ripped through an alleged illegal fireworks godown in Jaipur’s Khoh Nagoriyan area on Tuesday. The incident triggered panic in the densely populated neighborhood and prompted a large-scale rescue operation by emergency services.

According to officials, the fire broke out around 11 a.m. in Ayesha Nagar Talai Colony, where firecrackers were allegedly being stored and handled illegally inside a residential property. Witnesses reported hearing multiple explosions moments after the blaze erupted, with thick plumes of smoke visible from several kilometers away.

The intensity of the fire rapidly engulfed the structure, trapping several people inside. Fire brigade teams, police personnel, and disaster response units rushed to the spot and launched rescue operations. However, the severity of the explosions and the intense heat made firefighting efforts extremely challenging.

Officials confirmed that eight people were charred to death in the incident, while multiple injured victims were shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment. Some of the injured are reported to be in critical condition with severe burn injuries.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the premises were being used as an unauthorized fireworks manufacturing and storage facility. Authorities have launched a detailed probe to determine the exact cause of the fire and to identify those responsible for operating the alleged illegal unit. Forensic experts and fire safety officials have also been deployed to examine the site.

The explosions caused extensive damage to nearby structures and spread fear among residents of the locality. Eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos as people rushed out of their homes while rescue workers searched the debris for survivors.

Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma expressed grief over the loss of lives and directed officials to ensure the best possible medical treatment for the injured. Several political leaders also extended condolences to the families of the victims.

The tragedy has once again raised serious concerns about the operation of illegal fireworks units in residential areas and the enforcement of safety regulations governing the storage of explosive materials. Authorities have indicated that a wider inspection drive may be conducted to identify similar unauthorized establishments across the city.

As investigations continue, officials are working to determine whether negligence, safety violations, or unauthorized storage of fireworks contributed to one of Jaipur’s deadliest fire incidents in recent years.
