Emergency at SpiceJet Flight – Hydraulic Issue Forces Precautionary Landing at Jaipur International Airport

Jaipur, 3 Dec 2025: A scheduled SpiceJet flight from Mumbai to Jaipur (SG 649) was forced to declare a full emergency following a suspected hydraulic system malfunction aboard prompting priority landing at Jaipur International Airport on Tuesday evening.

According to airport sources, the cockpit crew reported a technical problem around 4:35 pm while on approach to Jaipur; in response, all other operations were temporarily suspended and emergency protocols were activated. Fire-brigade units, medical teams and security personnel were placed on high alert, awaiting the aircraft’s arrival.

The aircraft touched down safely at 4:50 pm. Post-landing assessment revealed no explosives or catastrophic failure; officials believe the issue may have been triggered by a “bird-hit” incident earlier during the flight though the hydraulic malfunction prompted the emergency call.

All passengers and crew disembarked without injury. No official statement has yet been issued by the airline. Meanwhile, the safety and maintenance teams have launched a thorough inspection to determine the exact cause of the malfunction.

Why this matters

  • The incident highlights how quickly standard flights can turn into potential emergencies and reaffirms the importance of robust safety protocols.
  • The quick response from the pilot crew and airport emergency teams likely prevented a potentially dangerous situation, underlining the value of vigilance and coordinated ground support.
  • For passengers, this serves as a reminder to follow airline instructions calmly during in-flight alerts, and for airlines to maintain strict maintenance and bird-strike mitigation measures.
