Historic 78th Army Day Parade to Be Held in Jaipur Featuring ‘Operation Sindoor’ Display

Jaipur, 21 Dec 2025: In a landmark move, Jaipur will host the 78th Indian Army Day Parade on January 15, 2026, marking the first time the event will be held in the Rajasthan capital and outside a military cantonment area. The parade, scheduled along Mahal Road in Jagatpura, is expected to draw large public participation and showcase India’s military prowess.

Army Day, celebrated annually on January 15, honours the valour, discipline and sacrifices of the Indian Army, and the upcoming parade seeks to highlight both traditional and modern facets of India’s armed forces. Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma underlined that the occasion symbolises India’s glorious military heritage and fosters national pride.

The parade will feature marching contingents, fly-past demonstrations by fighter jets and helicopters, drone displays, and a host of modern warfare technologies on exhibit. Organisers have also announced a ‘Know Your Army’ exhibition at the Bhawani Institute from January 8 to 12, where members of the public can interact with simulators of missile systems and learn more about the army’s capabilities.

A major highlight of the Army Day celebrations will be the ‘Shaurya Sandhya’ evening programme at SMS Stadium. Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will be the chief guest at this event, which includes a grand light and sound show based on ‘Operation Sindoor’, choreographed drone performances, and tributes to Veer Naris women associated with martyrs. A 1,000-drone show is expected to be one of the centrepieces of the celebration.

Chief Minister Sharma also announced the release of a commemorative first-day cover during the evening function, and that the event will be broadcast digitally to thousands of village councils across the country. Families of martyrs and senior army veterans will be specially honoured as part of the festivities.

The decision to host the parade in Jaipur aims to bring the Army closer to the public, strengthen civic–military ties, and inspire youth through direct engagement with the security establishment.

Army Day honours the legacy of India’s defence forces and showcases their evolving role in safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty and security.
