Historic Army Day Parade to Be Held in Jaipur for First Time; Massive Preparations Underway

Jaipur, 30 Dec 2025: In a landmark decision, the 78th Army Day Parade will be held in Jaipur on January 15, 2026, marking the first time the prestigious event takes place outside a traditional military cantonment area. Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma reviewed final preparations on Monday, directing officials to ensure flawless arrangements for what is expected to be a grand and patriotic spectacle.

Addressing senior officials and Army representatives at the Chief Minister’s Office, Sharma said the parade is a matter of pride for Rajasthan and an opportunity for citizens to show their respect and gratitude for the Indian Army’s courage, sacrifice, and service to the nation.

“The Army Day Parade must reflect our deep respect for the armed forces and inspire confidence in their valour and dedication,” the Chief Minister said, urging authorities to complete all necessary arrangements on schedule.

What to Expect: Grand Celebrations on Mahal Road

This year’s event, to be held on Mahal Road in the Jagatpura area of Jaipur, will feature a mix of traditional and modern elements of military pageantry. Highlights include:

  • Fly-pasts by fighter jets and helicopters
  • Ceremonial march-past of Army contingents
  • Displays of missiles, tanks, and drone technology
  • Exhibition of modern defence equipment
  • Participation by the Nepal Army Band
  • A spectacular drone show with over 1,000 drones
  • Shaurya Sandhya 2026 light and sound show at SMS Stadium
  • Honouring of martyrs’ families and traditional martial arts demonstrations

Authorities estimate that up to 1.5 lakh visitors per day, including students, ex-servicemen, women’s groups, and members of the public, will attend the main parade and rehearsals scheduled on January 9, 11, and 13.

Extensive Planning and Public Engagement

To ensure smooth functioning, Sharma instructed departments to coordinate meticulously on traffic management, security, parking, seating arrangements, and transportation logistics along the parade route. Close liaison with Army officials will continue to ensure the safety and convenience of all attendees.

Officials also announced a “Know Your Army” exhibition at Bhawani Niketan College from January 8 to 12, where visitors can get firsthand insight into the Army’s technology and weapon systems.

The Jaipur Army Day Parade represents a shift in how military celebrations are shared with the public, bringing the Army’s traditions and capabilities directly into the urban heart of Rajasthan’s capital.
