Internet Services Restored in Jaipur’s Chomu as Situation Normalises After Violence

Jaipur, 28 Dec 2025: Internet and mobile data services have been restored in Chomu town near Jaipur after authorities confirmed that the situation in the area has largely returned to normal following days of tension and disruptions.

The services had been suspended earlier this week as a precautionary measure amid clashes that erupted during an anti-encroachment drive near the Kalandari Mosque, where authorities were removing stones and iron railings from the roadside. The dispute escalated into stone-pelting and clashes between locals and police, resulting in injuries to several police personnel and prompting law enforcement to temporarily halt internet and social media services to prevent the spread of misinformation.

According to officials, mobile internet and data services were restored Sunday morning after calm was restored and markets reopened with regular footfall. Residents and traders welcomed the resumption of connectivity, which had affected businesses, communications and online services for several days.

Authorities had also made a large number of arrests in connection with the clashes, with over 100 people being taken into custody as investigations continued. The police maintained a strong presence in the area throughout the week, conducting flag marches and engaging community leaders to ensure peace and stability.

Despite the restoration of services, officials warned that strict monitoring of social media and online platforms would continue to prevent the spread of unverified or inflammatory content. Security personnel have been instructed to act swiftly against anyone attempting to stir unrest through digital channels.

Local civic life is gradually returning to normal, with residents resuming daily activities and businesses reopening. Authorities have said that investigations into the cause of the violence and the role of those involved are still underway, and further action will be taken where necessary.
