Jaipur Airport to Get Direct Underground Metro Link Connecting All Terminals

Jaipur, 27 Dec 2025: The Jaipur Metro network is set to be significantly expanded with the development of a direct underground metro station link to the Jaipur International Airport, which will connect all three airport terminals and enhance accessibility for passengers, officials said.

According to transport authorities, work is progressing on the metro extension project that will see a fully integrated underground metro station constructed within the airport complex. This station will be directly linked to Terminals 1, 2 and 3, enabling seamless and convenient connectivity for domestic and international travelers.

The plan, officials said, has been designed keeping in mind the increasing passenger traffic at Jaipur International Airport, one of the fastest-growing aviation hubs in North India and the need for efficient mass rapid transit options to reduce road congestion and travel time. Once completed, the metro link will allow commuters to reach the airport directly from various parts of the city without relying solely on road transport.

Preparatory work for the metro extension is already underway, with land acquisition, utility shifting and civil engineering surveys in progress at key points along the proposed alignment. Authorities have also initiated preliminary construction on access routes leading into the airport campus as part of the phased development plan.

The airport metro station is being planned as an underground facility to best integrate with existing airport infrastructure while minimizing surface-level disruption. Once operational, it is expected to boost connectivity not only for passengers but also for airport staff, airlines, and support services.

Local administrators said the project is aligned with broader efforts to modernize urban mobility in Jaipur, which include enhancements to the metro network and last-mile connectivity solutions. “This link will significantly improve travel efficiency and comfort for passengers coming to and from the airport,” stated a senior official involved in the project.

Commuters and civic groups have welcomed the initiative, noting that a direct metro connection will reduce dependence on cars and taxis, help curb traffic snarls, and contribute to lower carbon emissions in the metropolitan area.

Construction timelines and expected completion dates are yet to be officially announced, but project authorities have indicated that substantial progress is expected in the coming months as work shifts into higher gear.
