Jaipur Authorities Move to Demolish Cracked 5-Storey Building in Malviya Nagar After Structural Fears

Jaipur, 7 Dec 2025: In a precautionary move to avert a potential disaster, the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA), assisted by the Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) and civil-defence teams, has ordered the demolition of a five-storey building under construction in Malviya Nagar after major structural cracks appeared.

The under-construction structure located in a busy sector of Malviya Nagar started showing alarming signs of instability when soil erosion in its basement caused visible cracks from the ground floor up to the top level. The shifting foundation reportedly caused the building to begin tilting, sparking panic among nearby residents.

Upon receiving reports, municipal and disaster-response teams rushed to the site. Residents of neighbouring houses were evacuated immediately, and traffic on the adjacent road was diverted as a precaution. Cranes were deployed to support the building temporarily while engineers and officials assessed the damage.

“The cracks compromised the structural integrity collapse could have caused serious casualties,” said a JDA official. After inspection, the building has been marked unsafe, and demolition is scheduled to begin soon under supervision.

City-wide, this incident has renewed concerns about illegal or unsafely managed constructions, especially in areas with soft or unstable soil. Local civic-safety advocates have urged stricter oversight of building permits and more frequent structural audits.

Officials have appealed to residents to immediately report any signs of structural damage in their neighbourhoods. They also reassured that the demolition process will be conducted with full safety precautions to avoid inconvenience or risk to public life.
