Jaipur, 29 November: A horrifying incident rocked a neighbourhood in Jaipur late Friday, when a couple were reportedly doused with petrol and set on fire by unknown attackers. The pair were rushed to SMS Hospital with severe burn injuries.
According to police and hospital sources, both the man and woman sustained extensive burns. Their condition is critical and shock has rippled through the local community.
Preliminary investigation suggests the attack could be linked to a dispute or a crime of passion, though authorities have not ruled out other motives. Investigators have begun questioning witnesses and scanning CCTV footage from nearby cameras to trace the assailants.
Authorities have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including attempt to murder and use of incendiary means. A senior police official said, “We are treating this as a serious criminal offence. All leads will be followed to ensure perpetrators are brought to justice.”
