Jaipur, January 19, 2026: Police have arrested a key suspect in the high-profile Audi hit-and-run case that shook Jaipur earlier this month, as the accused was traced and detained after reportedly fleeing to Haridwar, officials said.
A team from the Patrakar Colony Police Station in south Jaipur apprehended Dinesh Rinwa, the primary driver allegedly responsible for driving the luxury Audi car that rammed into bystanders near Kharbas Circle on the night of January 9, 2026. The accident claimed the life of one person and injured more than a dozen others.

Accused Flees, Later Arrested
After the incident, Dinesh reportedly fled Jaipur and was tracked to Haridwar, where he was detained following a coordinated search operation that included analysing call records and surveillance leads. A reward of ₹25,000 had been announced for information leading to his arrest.
Earlier in the investigation, seven people were arrested for their alleged roles in facilitating the escape or harbouring suspects linked to the case. This included individuals accused of harbouring Rinwa and other accomplices after the crash.
Ongoing Investigation
Police have seized the Audi involved in the accident and recovered mobile phones and other evidence from the vehicle’s occupants. Investigators continue to question other suspects and track any remaining individuals believed to have aided in the evasion.
Authorities are also probing whether the driver and other car occupants were under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash, and additional charges related to reckless driving, culpable homicide not amounting to murder, and reckless endangerment are expected to be filed.
The Rajasthan government has directed police to expedite the legal process, and senior officials visited injured victims to assess their treatment and well-being.
