Jaipur, April 21, 2026: A major terror investigation has revealed a Jaipur connection in the escape of a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) operative who allegedly fled India using forged documents and is now believed to be hiding in Saudi Arabia.
The accused, identified as Umer Harris alias “Khargosh”, is a suspected operative of Lashkar-e-Taiba. According to officials, he managed to leave India on a fake passport issued under a false identity, posing as a resident of Rajasthan.
Jaipur Nikah Helped Build Fake Identity
Investigations have revealed that the terrorist had solemnised his marriage (nikah) in Jaipur using a fake name. Authorities believe the marriage documentation was later used to strengthen his forged identity and obtain official documents, including a passport.
The development has raised serious concerns over how verification processes were bypassed, allowing a foreign terrorist to establish a local identity and operate within India undetected.
Escape Route: Fake Passport and International Movement
Officials said the accused used a forged passport under the name “Sajjad” to flee India. He is believed to have first travelled to another country before eventually reaching Saudi Arabia, where he is currently suspected to be hiding.
Security agencies are now working through diplomatic channels to trace and potentially bring him back to India.
Multi-State Terror Network Exposed
The case came to light after security forces busted an inter-state terror module linked to the group. Several suspects have been arrested, and investigations indicate that the network had links across multiple states, including Rajasthan, Jammu & Kashmir, Haryana, and Punjab.
Officials said the accused frequently changed locations to evade detection, which earned him the alias “Khargosh” (rabbit).
ATS Action in Rajasthan
Meanwhile, the Rajasthan Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has detained multiple suspects in connection with the case and is probing possible local support networks that may have aided the terrorist during his stay in Jaipur.
Authorities are examining whether any individuals knowingly assisted him in obtaining fake documents or provided shelter during his time in the state.
Serious Security Concerns Raised
The incident has exposed potential loopholes in identity verification and passport issuance systems. Security agencies have flagged the misuse of forged documents and “cover identities” as a growing tactic used by terror groups to expand their network beyond traditional conflict zones.
