Jaipur Police Arrest Alleged Multi-Crore NEET Admission Fraudster

Jaipur, 19 November: In a major breakthrough, police in Jaipur have arrested a man identified as Vivek alias Vineet Joshi, accused of running a large-scale scam promising MBBS admissions under the NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) channel. According to authorities, Joshi pretended to be a member of the NEET-selection committee and collected crores of rupees from students’ families across multiple states.

The case came to light when a complainant from the Shyam Nagar police station in Jaipur filed a report alleging that his daughter had taken the NEET exam and Joshi assured her admission under the NRI quota. He reportedly first collected ₹50,000 and later a total of ₹5.5 lakh from the family. When the admission did not materialize and the family sought a refund, Joshi allegedly threatened them with identification as a CBI officer, sending fake ID cards to intimidate them.

Police investigations reveal that Joshi used over 100 bank accounts to receive the funds and his fraudulent operations spanned Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Gurugram and Madhya Pradesh. He was allegedly already in judicial custody for a different matter in Alwar jail at the time of the arrest. Authorities have secured a warrant and the suspect has been remanded until November 19, 2025.

The arrest has sparked renewed concern over the proliferation of medical-admission scams exploiting aspirants of NEET. Officials say they will trace all accomplices, freeze bank accounts, and collaborate with educational and exam-conducting agencies to identify victims and prevent further exploitation.

Parents and students are being urged to verify credentials, report unsolicited offers of guaranteed admission, and avoid reliance on unverified agents claiming affiliation with selection committees.
