Jaipur, 15 Dec 2025: Jaipur Police have seized fake Indian currency notes with a face value of ₹2,90,000 during a significant action against counterfeiters, officials said on Sunday. The operation was carried out after receiving credible intelligence about suspicious activities linked to fake currency circulation in the city.
According to police reports, officers acting on a tip-off conducted a search in a locality of Jaipur where the accused were allegedly preparing to circulate counterfeit notes. During the search, law enforcement personnel recovered fake Indian currency notes totaling ₹2.9 lakh. The value of the seized notes was verified on the spot, confirming they were forged and intended for illegal use in the local market.
The arrested individuals were taken into custody and are being questioned by the police to determine the network behind the distribution and printing of these forged currency notes. Authorities said further investigations are underway to identify additional persons involved and to trace the source of these fake notes.
Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) that deal with offences related to counterfeiting and circulation of fake currency, and will present the accused before a local magistrate as the probe continues.
Officials have urged people and business owners to remain vigilant and carefully verify cash received in transactions, especially high denomination notes, and to report any suspicious currency to the nearest police station.
