Jaipur Police Tightens Vigil for New Year, Rajasthan Excise Department Cracks Down on Liquor Parties and Unlicensed Alcohol Service

Jaipur, 31 December 2025: With New Year’s Eve celebrations underway in Jaipur and across Rajasthan, authorities have launched heightened enforcement measures focusing on liquor consumption, illegal alcohol parties, road safety, and public order. The move comes amid preparations for large public gatherings and festive celebrations across the state.

Excise Department Cracks Down on Liquor Parties and Illegal Alcohol Service

The Rajasthan Excise Department has intensified operations against liquor parties and unauthorized serving of alcohol at restaurants and private venues in Jaipur. Acting on directives from senior officials, excise teams have begun exercising zero tolerance toward illegal liquor distribution, especially involving alcohol brought in from outside the state.

Officials have warned that establishments or private organizers found providing liquor without proper licensing, or hosting unregulated parties during the New Year period, will face strict penalties, including legal action and seizure of alcohol supplies. The crackdown aims to enforce the state’s excise laws more robustly, ensuring public safety and compliance during peak celebration nights.

In one such operation in Jaipur’s Malviya Nagar area, excise inspectors raided a restaurant found serving alcohol without a valid licence and registered a case against the owner, underscoring the department’s resolve to clamp down on non-compliance.

Jaipur Police’s Road Safety and Drunk-Driving Measures

In tandem with excise action, the Jaipur Police have rolled out a comprehensive enforcement strategy to keep roads safe and deter drunken driving during New Year celebrations. Police have announced strict monitoring of motorists, and anyone found driving under the influence will have their vehicle impounded on the spot.

Recognising that revelers might inadvertently get pulled over while celebrating, the police have also made arrangements to safely drop intoxicated individuals home via e-rickshaws or other safe transport if they are not fit to drive, combining enforcement with public safety measures.

Additional checkpoints and three-layer security plans involving traffic police and local patrol units have been put in place throughout Jaipur. Some 55 major clubs and nightlife venues are under special observation, with traffic DCPs deploying extra personnel to monitor vehicle movement around these hubs.

Zero-Tolerance on Drink and Drive

Police officials have emphasised a “zero tolerance” policy for drink-and-drive offences during the New Year period, detracting from last year’s enforcement figures and reflecting a more robust approach to road safety. Authorities have highlighted that reckless driving under the influence not only endangers the individual but other road users as well.

Guidelines for Hotels, Bars and Event Organisers

In a meeting with hotel, restaurant, and bar associations, police officials outlined additional guidelines to promote responsible celebrations. These include displaying messages urging patrons not to drink and drive, maintaining CCTV coverage, and increasing security personnel presence. Establishments have been encouraged to provide clear messaging and support safe transport options for guests as part of an industry-wide push to reinforce responsibility among service providers.

A Coordinated Effort Ahead of Festivities

Together, the excise crackdown and police security arrangements represent a multi-agency commitment to ensure that Jaipur’s New Year festivities remain peaceful, safe, and free from liquor-related infractions. Residents and visitors are urged to celebrate responsibly and comply with all safety directives issued by law enforcement.
