Jaipur Schools Revise Timings for Classes Up to 8 Amid Heatwave Warning

Jaipur, April 23, 2026: In response to intensifying heatwave conditions, the Jaipur district administration has revised school timings for students up to Class 8, aiming to protect children from extreme temperatures.

The decision comes as Rajasthan continues to witness rising mercury levels, with authorities taking precautionary measures to reduce students’ exposure to peak afternoon heat.

New School Timings from April 27

According to official orders, all government and private schools in Jaipur will now operate for pre-primary to Class 8 students from 7:30 AM to 12:30 PM, starting April 27.

The revised schedule will remain in effect until the commencement of summer vacations. The move is applicable across the district and mandatory for all institutions.

Relief for Younger Students

The administration clarified that the change has been implemented primarily to safeguard younger children, who are more vulnerable to heat-related illnesses. By shifting school hours to early morning, authorities aim to ensure students return home before temperatures peak in the afternoon.

Officials highlighted that rising temperatures and heatwave warnings from the weather department made the decision necessary.

No Change for Higher Classes

For students of Classes 9 to 12, as well as for ongoing examinations and school staff, there is no change in timings. Schools have been directed to continue their existing schedules for senior classes.

Strict Compliance Ordered

The district administration has warned that strict action will be taken against schools that fail to comply with the revised timings. Authorities may invoke provisions under the Disaster Management Act if violations are found.

Heatwave Concerns Continue

Jaipur, along with several parts of Rajasthan, is currently experiencing severe heat conditions, with temperatures crossing 40°C in many areas. Experts have predicted further rise in temperatures over the coming days, increasing the risk of heat-related health issues.
