Jaipur, 20 November: A major security alert was triggered today in the high-security Civil Lines area of Jaipur after a leopard was reportedly found inside the official residence of Rajasthan Water Resources Minister Suresh Singh Rawat.
According to officials, the wild cat was first confirmed after fresh pug-marks were discovered inside the minister’s bungalow. Teams from the Rajasthan Forest Department immediately cordoned off the area and initiated a large-scale search operation to locate and safely capture the animal.
The bungalow lies opposite the residence of senior leader Sachin Pilot and close to the Raj Bhavan and other senior bureaucratic quarters. Locals, including residents and students, were advised to stay indoors and restrict movement until the situation is resolved.
Forest officials suggest that the incursion might be linked to shrinking habitat and fewer prey in surrounding forested areas, forcing leopards closer to human settlements.
No injuries have been reported so far. The rescue team is proceeding with caution to ensure the safety of both residents and the animal.
