Nine IndiGo Flights Delayed at Jaipur International Airport, Passengers Express Frustration Over Crew Shortage & Operational Issues

Jaipur, 4 Dec2025: Travellers faced long waits at Jaipur International Airport on Wednesday after nine IndiGo flights were delayed, allegedly because of crew shortages and operational disruptions.

What Happened

  • According to airport sources, the flights were repeatedly delayed with revised departure times being announced on short notice.
  • The delay on one of the busiest routes, the Mumbai-bound flight 6E-5324, was especially severe: originally scheduled for 7:05 p.m., it eventually departed at 8:45 p.m.
  • Other affected routes included Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Delhi, Chennai, Dehradun and Ahmedabad many flights were delayed by over an hour.

Why the Disruptions?

IndiGo is reportedly grappling with a shortage of crew, compounded by broader operational issues. Airport insiders cited a mix of factors staff scarcity, technical snags, and scheduling problems as the root cause of the delay.

Over the past weeks, similar disruptions have been reported at multiple airports across India, as the airline struggles to cope with new regulatory norms on crew rest and duty hours.

Passenger Experience

The flight delays caused considerable distress among passengers. Those waiting at Jaipur Airport described the situation as “chaotic”, reporting frequent and confusing announcements, repeated gate changes, and no clarity on revised flight times.

Many expressed frustration at the lack of communication, saying that they had to wait for hours with minimal information. Several travellers with connecting flights were worried about missing further connections because of the unpredictable schedule.

Aftermath: IndiGo & Regulatory Response

IndiGo has acknowledged the disruption and attributed it to multiple “operational reasons,” including crew shortage and scheduling troubles.

Meanwhile, the country’s aviation regulator, Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), has taken note of the frequent delays and cancellations. The DGCA has reportedly asked IndiGo to submit a detailed report, including explanations of how such situations arose and what measures the airline plans to take to prevent recurrence.
