Jaipur, 31 December 2025: Rajasthan is witnessing a significant surge in tourist arrivals as the New Year approaches, with popular destinations across the state, including Ranthambore, Jaipur, Jaisalmer, Udaipur and Jodhpur, reporting heavy crowds, fully booked hotels and booming travel activity. Amid this rush, senior Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, accompanied by family members, arrived in Ranthambore National Park on Tuesday for New Year celebrations.
Ranthambore Emerges as Key Destination
The Gandhi family’s arrival in Sawai Madhopur district reinforces Ranthambore’s appeal as a preferred getaway during peak holiday travel. The national park, famed for its tiger reserve, rich biodiversity and scenic landscapes has drawn tourists from across India, contributing to Rajasthan’s overall tourism boom.
According to local reports, the surge in visitor numbers is not limited to wildlife tourism; heritage cities like Jaipur and Udaipur, desert hubs such as Jaisalmer, and major religious sites have also recorded sharp increases in footfall since the Christmas weekend.
Tourist Hotspots Report Record Crowds
Authorities in Jaisalmer say the desert city is seeing unprecedented attendance at attractions like Sam Sand Dunes and Gadisar Lake, with hotels and resorts fully booked for the New Year period. Many establishments have even scaled up room tariffs due to soaring demand.
Similarly, Jaipur and Udaipur, famed for their forts, palaces and lakes, have been overwhelmed with visitors. Local officials report heavy traffic around historic sites and crowded accommodation options throughout the cities.
Political Leaders Among Visitors
Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra chose Ranthambore as their destination for the New Year, spending time in nature alongside family members. Their visit, on a private basis, comes amid growing tourist interest in the region’s natural and wildlife attractions.
While the visit is largely personal, it coincides with the peak tourist season when travelers from across the country are exploring Rajasthan’s diverse attractions.
Tourism Economy and Infrastructure
The tourism surge has delivered a notable boost to the state’s economy, benefiting hotels, guides, transport operators and small businesses. However, the rush has also presented challenges: several cities are grappling with traffic congestion and pressure on local infrastructure as visitor numbers swell.
Government and tourism officials are coordinating with local authorities to manage crowd flows, enhance safety protocols, and ensure a smooth experience for both residents and visitors during the extended holiday period.
