Rajasthan Government Transfers 21 IPS Officers in Major Administrative Reshuffle

Jaipur, February 24, 2026: The Rajasthan government on Monday night carried out a major administrative reshuffle in the police department, transferring 21 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers across the state. The reshuffle includes officers from the ranks of Additional Director General (ADG), Inspector General (IG), and other senior positions, bringing significant changes to police leadership in key cities such as Jaipur, Jodhpur, and Bikaner.

According to official orders issued by the Department of Personnel, the changes were aimed at strengthening law enforcement administration and improving operational efficiency across the state police system.

Key Appointments and Transfers

One of the most prominent changes is the appointment of Sharat Kaviraj as the new Police Commissioner of Jodhpur, replacing Om Prakash, who has been posted as Special Commissioner (Operations) in the Jaipur Police Commissionerate.

Rahul Prakash, who was serving as Special Police Commissioner in Jaipur, has been appointed as the Inspector General (IG) of Jaipur Range, while several other IG-level officers were shifted to new assignments across different units.

At the ADG level, Hawa Singh Ghumaria has been transferred to the post of ADG (Headquarters), and Vipin Kumar Pandey has been appointed as ADG (Crime). Meanwhile, Praful Kumar has been promoted and posted as ADG (Intelligence).

Changes Across Key Police Units

The reshuffle also includes postings in several important wings of the police department:

  • S. Parimala appointed IG, Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB)
  • Vikas Kumar posted as IG, Anti-Narcotics Task Force
  • Ajay Pal Lamba transferred to IG, Special Operations Group (SOG)
  • Hemant Kumar Sharma posted as IG, State Crime Records Bureau (SCRB)
  • Rajesh Singh appointed IG, Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS)

In addition, transfers were made in multiple ranges including Jodhpur, Kota, and Bikaner, along with postings related to civil rights, anti-human trafficking, and police headquarters functions.

Administrative Objective Behind the Reshuffle

Officials indicated that the large-scale transfers are part of the state government’s ongoing efforts to streamline police administration and enhance coordination across departments. The changes are expected to bring fresh leadership and improved operational focus in sensitive and high-priority areas of policing.

This reshuffle is being viewed as one of the significant administrative exercises by the state government this year, particularly because it affects senior leadership in major urban police commissionerates and important investigative units.
