Jaipur, 18 Dec 2025: A school van carrying students was violently hit by a speeding SUV on VT Road in the Mansarovar area on Wednesday morning, leaving six children injured and the driver of the van seriously hurt, police said.
The accident occurred at around 11:00 AM when the private school van was crossing the busy road after dropping students from exams. A high-speed SUV reportedly came from the direction of New Sanganer Road and collided with the van on the side, causing the vehicle to flip and land several metres away from the point of impact.
According to eyewitness accounts and police reports, the collision was so forceful that children were flung inside the van, prompting bystanders to rush to the scene and pull them out before authorities arrived.
Six of the children were rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors said three are in a critical condition with multiple fractures and head injuries and are receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit. The remaining three children have sustained less severe injuries. The van driver also suffered a broken leg in the crash and is undergoing treatment.
Police from the Shipra Path and South Accident Police Stations reached the site soon after the collision. An FIR has been registered against the SUV driver, whose vehicle was left abandoned at the scene. Efforts are underway to trace and apprehend the driver based on the vehicle’s registration details and available CCTV footage.
The accident has reignited concerns about road safety on busy city stretches, especially where school vehicles frequently operate, with residents and families urging stricter traffic monitoring and enforcement of speed regulations.
