Traffic Alert in Jaipur Ahead of Historic Army Day Parade; Mahal Road to Remain Closed

Jaipur, January 5, 2026: As Jaipur prepares to host the 78th Army Day Parade on January 15, 2026, the city administration has issued a major traffic alert, announcing planned closures and alternate routes to manage traffic flow near the parade venue on Mahal Road, Jagatpura

Traffic Alert in Jaipur Ahead of Historic Army Day Parade

This year’s Army Day Parade is especially significant, as it marks the first time the event will be held in Jaipur’s civilian area, opening the grand military spectacle to the public outside of cantonment zones. The parade is expected to attract large crowds, dignitaries, military officials, veterans and thousands of defence enthusiasts.

Traffic Restrictions and Road Closures

To ensure safety and smooth conduct of the event, authorities have closed Mahal Road to regular traffic from NRI Chowk to Bombay Hospital Chowk from 5:00 AM to 1:00 PM on dates including parade rehearsals and the main event (January 9, 11, 13 and 15). All normal vehicular movement along this stretch will be prohibited during these hours.

Local residents remaining in areas adjacent to Mahal Road have been advised to use parallel internal roads for daily commute where necessary.

Alternate Routes for Motorists

To minimize inconvenience, the traffic police have laid out diversion plans:

  • Vehicles heading toward Akshaya Patra Temple via Khatu Shyam Circle will be diverted to Haldi Ghati Marg and VIT Road.
  • Traffic from Vidhani Chowk toward Bombay Hospital and Akshaya Patra will be rerouted via Bombay Hospital Chowk to Kendriya Vihar Road.
  • In case of heavy congestion, vehicles on Vidhani Chowk may be further diverted via Mahatma Gandhi Road.
  • Vehicles approaching Mahal Road from Goner Road will be stopped before D-Mart Circle and directed to alternative parallel roads.

Authorities are urging motorists to avoid entering the Mahal Road area during these hours and plan travel accordingly.

Parking and Public Access

Officials have also arranged designated parking zones on Haldi Ghati Marg and Rana Sanga Marg for the convenience of the public. Private vehicles will not be allowed directly near the parade route to ensure safety and manage crowd flow effectively.

Spectators are encouraged to enter the parade viewing areas via Mahaveer Marg and Kendriya Vihar Marg from the D-Mart Circle side, helping maintain efficient traffic movement.

What to Expect at the Parade

The Army Day Parade is scheduled to feature an impressive showcase of discipline, valour and military prowess, including marching contingents, modern weaponry and defence technology. In addition to the main parade, multiple rehearsals and public display events in early January are planned to build excitement and enable citizens to experience the spirit of the Indian Army.

Authorities have reminded citizens to comply with the directives, use alternate routes where advised, and allow extra travel time during the event period.
