Jaipur, January 14, 2026: Two men lost their lives in separate hit-and-run incidents on Monday night in Jaipur, police said, as the city grapples with yet another spate of fatal road accidents.
The first incident occurred around 7:30 pm in the Kardhani area, when 40-year-old Anil Jangid, a carpenter originally from Khandela in Sikar district, was struck by a speeding pickup truck while returning home on his motorcycle along 80 Feet Road. The driver fled the scene immediately after the collision. Anil was rushed to Kanwatiya Hospital, where doctors later declared him dead.
Just over two hours later, another tragic crash took place in the Vishwakarma area on VKI Road 1, claiming the life of 30-year-old Shubham Pandey. Pandey, who worked as a bank manager and lived in Vishwakarma, was riding his motorcycle home when an overspeeding truck hit him from the opposite direction. Passers-by found him critically injured and alerted authorities. He was taken to Kanwatiya Hospital but succumbed to his injuries. The truck driver also fled the scene.
Both victims were sole earners for their families, deepening the tragedy for their loved ones. Jaipur police said separate FIRs have been registered in connection with the two hit-and-run cases, and teams are working to trace the absconding drivers.
These back-to-back fatalities underscore growing concern over road safety and reckless driving in the city. In recent days, law enforcement has also been investigating other serious hit-and-run and reckless driving cases in Jaipur, including an incident involving an Audi that mowed down pedestrians near Kharbas Circle, killing one and injuring several others.
Police have urged commuters and vehicle operators to adhere strictly to traffic regulations and warned that punitive action will be taken against those found driving dangerously or attempting to evade responsibility after causing collisions.
