Jaipur, January 29, 2026: A high-speed car went out of control on Tonk Road earlier today, colliding with several vehicles before crashing into the boundary wall of a mall, police said. The incident occurred at around 1:00 PM near the Kisan Marg red light, causing damage to multiple vehicles and injuring two people.
According to Accident Police Station (East) officials, the luxury vehicle was travelling from Bajaj Nagar towards Sanganer when it lost control and struck two cars and three motorcycles in quick succession. The car ultimately hit the wall of a commercial mall, bringing traffic on the busy thoroughfare to a standstill for nearly an hour.
Police identified the driver as Rajesh Khandelwal, a resident of Bapu Nagar. Initial investigations suggest he may have been under the influence at the time of the crash, prompting authorities to take him into custody and send him for a medical examination. An FIR has been registered in connection with the case.
While traffic was diverted temporarily as clearing operations were underway, two people sustained injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital. Officials later reported that their condition is stable.
Witnesses said a crowd gathered shortly after the accident, and some bystanders attempted to confront the driver before police intervened. Officers from both the Accident Police and Bajaj Nagar Police Station later restored normal traffic flow.
Authorities continue to investigate the exact cause of the crash, but preliminary findings point to overspeeding and possible loss of control as contributing factors.
This incident adds to growing concerns about road safety in the city, where several high-speed related accidents have occurred in recent weeks.
