Jaipur Auto Driver Arrested for Tricking German Tourist Into Repeating Abusive Words

Jaipur, 24 March 2026: A Jaipur autorickshaw driver has been arrested after a video surfaced on social media showing him tricking a German tourist into repeating abusive Hindi words without her understanding their meaning.

The incident came to light after the video went viral online on March 20, prompting swift action from the Rajasthan Police. In the video, the driver can be seen encouraging the foreign tourist to repeat certain Hindi words while laughing, allegedly without explaining their meaning.

Police said the woman, who had been visiting Jaipur as a tourist, believed she was participating in a normal conversation and was unaware that the words she was repeating were abusive.

According to officials, the accused has been identified as Mohammad Sohail (31), a resident of the Surajpol area in Jaipur. Following verification of the viral video, police registered a case and arrested the driver.

Authorities said the incident occurred about ten days before the video surfaced online. The tourist had been touring the walled city of Jaipur in the autorickshaw when the incident took place.

The woman reportedly recorded the interaction herself and later posted the video on social media after returning to Germany. The clip quickly spread online, triggering outrage and leading police to track down the accused driver.

Tourist Police Station SHO Manju Kumari confirmed that an FIR has been registered against the driver on charges related to misconduct with a tourist. Officials added that further investigation into the matter is currently underway.

The incident has raised concerns about the behaviour of service providers with foreign visitors and the potential impact such acts could have on the reputation of Rajasthan’s tourism industry.
