Jaipur, June 7: Security was intensified across parts of Jaipur on Saturday as civic authorities launched an operation to remove several religious structures standing in the way of an ongoing road widening project in the city’s Malviya Nagar–Jagatpura corridor.

The action was carried out in Nandpuri and adjoining areas, where officials had identified multiple structures that were allegedly obstructing the proposed expansion of the roadway. Authorities stated that the move was aimed at improving traffic flow and enhancing road infrastructure in one of Jaipur’s rapidly developing zones.
A large contingent of police personnel, administrative officials, and municipal teams was deployed at the site to maintain law and order during the operation. Barricades were erected, and movement in sensitive areas was closely monitored as a precautionary measure.
According to officials, notices had been issued in advance and discussions were held with representatives of the affected religious sites before the removal process was initiated. The administration emphasized that the action was part of a planned infrastructure project and was not targeted at any particular community.
Several earthmovers and demolition teams were brought in to carry out the operation under tight security arrangements. Authorities also maintained continuous surveillance in nearby localities to prevent any untoward incidents.
Senior police officers remained on the ground throughout the exercise, while additional forces were kept on standby in sensitive locations across the city. Officials appealed to residents to maintain peace and cooperate with the administration during the process.
The road widening project is expected to significantly improve connectivity between Malviya Nagar, Jagatpura, and surrounding residential areas, which have witnessed rapid urban growth and increasing traffic congestion in recent years.
Local authorities stated that public convenience and safety remain the primary objectives of the project. They added that all actions were being carried out in accordance with legal procedures and under the supervision of the concerned departments.
No major law-and-order issues were reported during the operation, and officials confirmed that the situation remained peaceful. The administration has assured residents that development works will continue while ensuring that peace and communal harmony are maintained across the city.
The development has drawn considerable public attention, highlighting the challenges urban authorities face in balancing infrastructure expansion with the presence of long-standing structures in rapidly growing urban areas.
