Jaipur, February 1, 2026: A massive explosion at an oxygen cylinder manufacturing unit in Jaipur on Friday afternoon has claimed the lives of two workers and left a third critically injured, police and rescue officials said. The blast, which occurred at the Creative Gas Factory near Goner Road, jolted the industrial area and prompted an urgent investigation into possible safety lapses at the facility.

Explosion Rocks Industrial Area
The incident took place around 3:30 PM when an oxygen cylinder being filled at the factory reportedly detonated, triggering a powerful blast that damaged nearby structures and sent shockwaves through the surrounding neighbourhood. The explosion could be heard several kilometres away, causing panic among residents and workers in adjacent units.
Eyewitnesses said heavy flames and smoke erupted immediately after the blast, forcing workers to rush out of the building. “We heard a huge bang and saw fire and debris everywhere,” said one local resident, describing how people scrambled to safety and alerted emergency responders.
Casualties and Rescue Operations
Rescue teams, including firefighters and medical personnel, arrived at the scene within minutes. Two workers, identified as Rajesh Kumar, 35, and Manoj Singh, 29, were declared dead at the site due to severe injuries sustained in the blast. A third person, identified only as Ravi, suffered serious burns and was immediately taken to SMS Hospital for treatment.
Authorities said the injured man was in critical condition and undergoing intensive care. Local police cordoned off the factory premises to facilitate rescue operations and prevent further accidents.
Investigation into Cause
Preliminary reports from police and the Industrial Safety Department suggest that the blast may have occurred due to a safety breach or procedural lapse during the oxygen cylinder filling process. Police have seized the factory’s records and equipment involved in the operation for forensic analysis and to establish the exact cause of the explosion.
Officials from the Rajasthan Fire and Emergency Services and industrial safety inspectors are jointly investigating whether proper safety protocols were in place, including pressure gauges, release valves and staff training. Senior authorities said lapses in monitoring and cylinder handling cannot be ruled out pending the outcome of a detailed probe.
Safety Concerns and Community Fear
The blast has reignited concerns among local residents and workers about industrial safety standards in the rapidly growing manufacturing hubs around Jaipur. Nearby businesses temporarily shut operations following the explosion, and authorities have advised people to avoid the area until it is fully secured.
“This could have been much worse if the blast occurred at peak working hours or in a more congested part of the facility,” said a community leader, urging regular inspections and stricter enforcement of safety norms.
Official Statements
Police officials confirmed that a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and industrial laws. “We are investigating all possibilities, including negligence and mechanical failure,” a senior officer said. “Once the inquiry is complete, appropriate action will be taken against those found responsible.”
As Jaipur reels from this tragic incident, authorities have appealed to industrial units across the region to review safety mechanisms and protocols to prevent such devastating accidents in the future.
