Jaipur Weather Update: Cold Wave Intensifies, Dense Fog Alert Issued

Jaipur, January 28, 2026: Jaipur is experiencing a pronounced cold spell as winter continues to grip Rajasthan, with dense fog and falling temperatures affecting daily life and travel across the Pink City and surrounding areas. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued weather alerts for dense fog and chilly conditions over the next 24–48 hours, urging residents to exercise caution.

Cold Wave Conditions and Fog Alert
A cold wave is currently sweeping through Jaipur and several other districts of Rajasthan, bringing an intensified chill to the region following recent thunderstorms and light rainfall. As moisture increases and skies remain overcast in places, the IMD has warned of dense fog in the early mornings and reduced visibility on roadways, particularly during the next couple of days.

On Wednesday morning, thick cloud cover and cool winds were reported in and around Jaipur, adding to the winter chill that residents are bracing for. The weather department has issued alerts for dense fog in at least 11 districts, including Jaipur, where visibility is expected to remain low in the early hours.

According to official forecasts, morning fog and mist will persist through Thursday, with partly cloudy skies expected later in the day. Minimum temperatures are forecast to hover around 10–11°C, while daytime highs are likely to reach about 20–22°C, though the cold will continue to be felt strongly in the early mornings and evenings.

Impact on Daily Life and Travel
Dense fog can significantly reduce visibility, disrupting road travel and increasing risks for commuters, particularly during early morning and late-night hours. Motorists are advised to use fog lamps and drive with extra caution, while pedestrians should wear visible clothing to stay safe. Fog can also lead to delays or operational challenges at transport hubs like bus stands, train stations and airports.

Residents have reported chilly mornings as the cold wave strengthens, with thicker clothing and hot beverages becoming common sights on Jaipur’s streets. Many communities are taking precautions against the cold, especially among children, the elderly and people with respiratory conditions.

Short-Term Forecast
The IMD-based forecast shows:

  • January 28–29: Dense fog in the morning, partly cloudy skies later; lows around 7–10°C, highs near 20–22°C.
  • January 30–31: Fog and overcast conditions expected to persist into the early mornings.

Subsequent days show a gradual trend toward clearer skies, although fog may continue during the coolest hours of the day.

As the cold wave continues, locals are advised to follow weather updates regularly and take necessary precautions against the cold and reduced visibility conditions affecting the Jaipur region.
