Jaipur Woman Preparing for Competitive Exams Dies After Being Hit by Train

Jaipur, February 2, 2026: A 28-year-old woman was killed after she was struck by a passing train while attempting to cross railway tracks in Jaipur on Sunday afternoon, police said.

The incident took place near the Arjun Nagar railway crossing in the Mahesh Nagar police station area. The victim has been identified as Seema Mahawar, a resident of Prithvipura Tuanga. Seema was staying in Mahesh Nagar and preparing for competitive examinations, according to authorities.

Police said Seema had left her home around midday to buy groceries. On her way back, she chose to take a shortcut by crossing the railway tracks at the Arjun Nagar crossing. Unaware of an approaching train, she was struck by the speeding train. Emergency responders pronounced her dead at the scene, and her body was later taken to a mortuary for post-mortem procedures.

Local residents who gathered at the scene said the area is frequently used as an unauthorized track crossing, despite safety risks. Jaipur police have registered a case and initiated an investigation. They also appealed to the public to avoid crossing railway tracks unsafely and urged greater caution near railway infrastructure.

The tragic accident has once again raised concerns about pedestrian safety around railway lines in and around the city.
