Jaipur, February 3, 2026: Rajasthan’s weather showed significant fluctuations on 3 February 2026, with dense morning fog, sunshine in parts of the state and ongoing alerts from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) impacting residents and travellers alike.
Dense Fog and Visibility Issues
Several districts of Rajasthan, including Jaipur, Sikar, and other northern and eastern regions, experienced dense fog early in the morning, significantly reducing visibility on roads and railway tracks. This has led to advisory warnings for motorists to drive cautiously and use headlights appropriately during low visibility hours.
Thunderstorm and Rain Possibilities
Weather systems linked to an active Western Disturbance continue to influence the climate, especially in eastern Rajasthan. The IMD has forecast light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorm activity in parts of the Jaipur, Kota, Ajmer, and Bharatpur divisions over the next 48 to 72 hours. There is also a possibility of hail in some isolated areas.
Temperature Shifts Across the State
Despite winter conditions prevailing in the mornings, daytime temperatures have risen in western districts such as Barmer and Pali, where maximums climbed significantly. Conversely, eastern and central regions like Jaipur still saw cooler highs with early morning chills. This contrast underscores the transitional phase of the season.
IMD Alerts and Public Advisory
The IMD has issued weather warnings, including:
- Fog advisories for more than a dozen districts, particularly during early morning and late night hours.
- Rain and thunderstorm alerts for parts of eastern Rajasthan.
Residents are urged to stay updated with weather bulletins and exercise caution on highways and rural roads as poor visibility conditions persist. Agricultural communities are also advised to monitor forecasts to protect crops during sudden weather changes.
